Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Resource Page
Having multiple deaf family members, founder Shireen Arora was inspired to create a sub-initiative under Pathways to Potential in which she would expose deaf and hard-of-hearing students in STEAM. These students are historically underrepresented due to a lack of resources, communication barriers, and other obstacles. Therefore, we will be creating ASL video resources explaining STEAM concepts, STEAMonstrations with ASL, and spreading awareness about this mission!
Multi-School STEAM Fair
Imagine a multi-school STEAM fair where students from Title 1 schools come together to showcase their creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving skills! This event transforms a space into a hub of innovation, with interactive booths, hands-on demonstrations, and student-led experiments spanning science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Visitors can explore solar-powered inventions, artistic engineering challenges, live chemistry experiments, and coding workshops, all designed to ignite a passion for learning. The fair also features guest speakers who share inspiring stories and insights into STEAM careers, allowing students to embrace STEAM and dream bigger than ever before!
STEAM Kits
The event that started the entire initiative, the STEAM Kits Event is an immersive hands-on experience designed to spark creativity and curiosity in students from Title 1 schools. This exciting event brings science, technology, engineering, art, and math to life through carefully crafted STEAM kits, each filled with interactive experiments that inspire problem-solving and innovation. Students will dive into activities like building circuits, experimenting with chemical reactions, creating artistic engineering projects, and exploring the physics behind motion. Guided by engaging demonstrations and interactive discussions, they’ll not only discover new concepts but also develop critical thinking skills in a fun, collaborative environment. The event fosters a love for learning, giving students the chance to explore STEAM in a way they may not have experienced before, ultimately empowering them to pursue new interests and see themselves as future scientists, engineers, and creators!
